Straw SculpturesWe hope you like the photo's of our straw sculptures. Mike Harper from Harbook Engineering and Chris build a feature each summer, which can be seen from the A51 Chester Road. To celebrate we have great fun making cones to look like our sculptures and these in turn help to raise money for the Railway Children charity. 'MEERKAT' 2010Our Meerkat is thirty six feet tall, that’s 30 times bigger than his African cousins and he can be seen keeping lookout at Snugburys.
'BIG BEN' 2009Celebrating Big Ben, 150 years old in 2009. Big Ben famously displays Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Snugburys fully working and luminous clock is helping to mark this fantastic anniversary. Our straw Big Ben has been seen on BBC, ITV and in many newspapers including the Daily Mail.

The Millennium Cone.We built the dome (our straw feature for the year) out of straw, a fraction of the price of the real thing and just as special to look at! It was featured in Jan2001 on Channel 4, the collectors programme. We stuck a huge cornet on top and called the whole thing The Millennium Cone. It was a huge success being featured in The Sunday People, The Times, Daily Telegraph and the News of the world. More >> |

Fred the Weatherman.
Fred came and broadcast the weather from the Dome, he interviewed Hannah our eldest who thought of the idea, which she found very embarrassing! The cows had a field day, they crowded round to watch, they then decided Fred's new car was much more interesting, so they licked it all over. What a mess! * All our straw creations are made with the massive help and talent of Michael Harper of Harbrook Engineering. |
