Diabetic (sucrose intolerant) & lower fat ice cream!
Our friend George from the States said to us "Please make me a great diabetic ice cream"
We kept making it until George thought it was great. Now we supply E.H.Booths with Diabetic and Slimmer Ice Cream and it has many followers. You can find Snugburys Ice Cream in select locations in the Northwest of England.
Having decided it was time to develop a new ice cream for our friend George, the challenge was on! The ice cream of course had to be lower in fat and sugar but also had to have the taste to complement our existing range of luxury ice creams.
To do this we decided to use skimmed milk. By adding double cream we made it 5% fat which meant it could be called ice cream. We then used Fructose because it is 1.17 – 1.75 times sweeter than sucrose and therefore less is needed. Fructose has a lower glycemic index and results in a moderate release of insulin to the blood stream, in comparison to glucose and sucrose.
The range has been part of the Snugburys family for many years now. We have 3 delicious flavours which are available in a 120ml pots, 1 litre tubs, 2 litre tubs or 4.5 litre tubs.
