Christmas PieChristmas - doesn't it come around quickly? We start getting ready for ours in late October, some of the leaves are still on the trees! The inspiration for our Christmas Pie ice cream came from the big tradition we have in our house for homemade Christmas Pudding. There is always a great discussion about the ingredients, length of time for maturing, whose recipe we will use this year, and so on. Can you imagine the discussion that went into creating the ice cream version! It all starts when Ann buys the stout (Guinness) and the Bandy. It's a tradition now that Ann goes off to buy the booze. Into the stout (Guinness) and brandy are soaked lots of brazil nuts, pecan nuts, currants, sultanas, walnuts, prunes, raisins, (freshly squeezed and zested) oranges and lemons, cherries, candied peel and spices. It's the ice cream version of our homemade Christmas pud! |
